It is a wonderful time to be heading to the West End, with an array of big shows arriving in the capital in 2019 and audiences continuing to relish in some of the world’s best known musicals.
So with that in mind excitement will be palpable as one of the most popular musicals of all makes a welcome return to the capital. Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has fans worldwide, a feat nurtured during its many revivals since its 1970s debut, its star performances and the musical numbers that audiences continue to hum year in year out.
The show runs at the world-famous London Palladium over the summer, giving the latest generation of theatregoers the chance to experience the wonderful performances, dazzling costumes, inspiring story and memorable musical numbers. The result is likely to be one of the theatre events of the year.
Our title character, Joseph, is a man of many talents but this puts him at odds with those around him. As one of 12 sons of Jacob, his brothers become jealous and sell him into slavery, beginning a struggle that will see him imprisoned and standing alongside the Pharaoh. Through his journey he interprets dreams, tries to right wrongs and solve many dilemmas as he attempts to make his way home.
And the songs that propel this narrative only add to the enjoyment, from the iconic Any Dream Will Do to other favourites like King Of My Heart, Close Every Door and The Brothers Come To Egypt, amongst others. These songs, along with the story, performances, choreography and more have added to its acclaim, leading to audience appreciation, awards and nominations, ensuring its legacy for many years to come.
The work of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, it is a production that continues to delight and there’s no reason to suggest this won’t be the case in 2019 as well, which is why this will be one of the most talked-about productions of the summer.
The iconic Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat makes its anticipated return to the West End, running at the London Palladium from Thursday 11th July 2019 (previews from Wednesday 26th June 2019).
