Mood Music - Old Vic Theatre, London

Age Restriction: Children under 12 will not be admitted.

For the latest show appearing at the Old Vic Theatre we turn our attentions to a writer who has had a lot of success penning work for the stage and screen. Joe Penhall, best known for his work on Sunny Afternoon, brings Mood Music to the Lambeth venue from April.

Roger Michell directs a story that takes a look at the darker and more chaotic side of the music industry, with Penhall depicting a range of colourful characters vying for control. The result is likely to be another compelling, must-see production for the London theatre scene in 2018, standing up alongside other Old Vic shows like Fanny & Alexander and A Monster Calls.

Mood Music takes us to a recording studio here in the capital, where we witness the politics of creating music. Amongst the egos on the scene are the creatives, the legal representatives and the therapists who all have their hand in turning the process into a chaotic one.

So for fans of music, this will be an intriguing production to sink their teeth into. But then we would expect no less from the writer of Sunny Afternoon and a host of other acclaimed shows. The former is the Kinks musical that won a Laurence Olivier Award whilst Penhall’s other work has appeared at the Royal Court Theatre, the Hampstead Theatre and the Donmar Warehouse, amongst a host of other locations. He is a talented whose work is admired around the capital.

Mood Music, his latest, runs at the Old Vic Theatre, with performances starting on Saturday 21st April 2018.
