This November audiences at the Harold Pinter Theatre will sit down to witness Nice Fish, Mark Rylance and Louis Jenkins’ acclaimed play that already wowed the crowds in New York. It will also offer the chance to see the legendary actor Rylance take on a lead role in the West End once again, making this one of the most unmissable shows of the year.

Rylance will appear alongside Jim Lichtscheidl when the production opens, both of whom reprise their roles from the Broadway run, with further performances from Raye Birk, Bob Davies and Kayli Carter. Meanwhile, New York director Claire van Kampen returns to call the shots.

Nice Fish takes us to Minnesota and it is here that we meet the ice fishermen Ron and Erik (Rylance and Lichtscheidl) who have found themselves at the end of the season pondering life’s great mysteries. Whilst they hope to capture one last fish they have plenty to discuss.

The story is one that has clearly won over the minds of audiences across the Atlantic and now producers will be hoping for the same success over here. But with two talented minds coming together to pen the script (and taking its title from Jenkins’ 1995 book of the same name) we can expect big things from this.

But this is true for anything starring Mark Rylance. The acclaimed performer has the ability to turn anything he touches into gold, whether it is the much talked-about production of Jerusalem that played at the West End’s Apollo Theatre (and across the pond) or his more recent role in Farinelli And The King at the Duke of York’s Theatre. He has not only earned a Laurence Olivier Award, but also an Academy Award thanks to his supporting role Steven Spielberg’s film Bridge Of Spies.

His co-star Jim Lichtscheidl also has a prominent career on the stage and screen, with numerous credits in the United States, from the Coen Brothers’ A Serious Man to A Post Electric Play.

But now both of them reappear alongside one another for the anticipated arrival of Nice Fish in the West End, which opens at the Harold Pinter Theatre in November 2016.
