With the ten-year anniversary of Harold Pinter’s death upon us, now is a great time to explore some of his works in this celebration of his career. The Pinter At The Pinter Season at the Harold Pinter Theatre will present a range of bills featuring numerous one-act plays from the late playwright, mixing top performing talent with the biggest West End directors.
This Double Bill is directed by Jamie Lloyd, well known for his Trafalgar Transformed seasons at the Trafalgar Studios, and it stars Hercule Poirot himself, David Suchet. The plays take the forms of comedies The Lover and The Collection.
The Lover is a play from 1962 that introduces us to a married couple, a wife and her husband, and the wife’s supposed lover on the side. But we will soon discover that appearances are not to be trusted. It is a unique and intriguing show that will provide part of a compelling evening for audiences.
The Collection, meanwhile, introduces to other couples, this time in the former of James & Stella and Harry & Bill, with the action taking place in apartments in Belgravia and Chelsea.
The team of Jamie Lloyd and David Suchet will provide a lot of enthusiasm of theatergoers already excited to witness these unique plays. Suchet, for example, is a regular figure on a West End stage, in recent years appearing in the likes of The Importance Of Being Earnest at the Vaudeville Theatre and Long Day’s Journey Into Night at the Apollo Theatre, amongst others.
Now he appears in The Pinter At The Pinter Season at the Harold Pinter Theatre, which features the Double Bill of The Lover and The Collection from Thursday 6th September 2018 to Saturday 23rd February 2019.
