Back in 1818 a venue opened that would stand the test of time so that today, two centuries later, it continues to present stand-out work. That venue is the Old Vic Theatre, celebrating this milestone of a birthday in 2018 and attracting some top talent for the celebrations in the process.
Sea Wall will form part of this celebration as it is a revival of a top play attracting its original talent back to the stage. Andrew Scott returns to the solo role in Simon Stephens’ acclaimed script, whilst original director George Perrin also returns to helm.
Scott plays Alex in the monologue and he recounts a life that seems to be going well where everything is concerned. However, we will soon see how life has its ways of bearing down on us.
Simon Stephens, writing, is one of the nation’s top playwrights, penning many iconic shows during a successful career. His work includes the likes of Harper Regan and the recent Heisenberg, with adaptations of other top shows amongst his back catalogue as well. He first presented Sea Wall in 2008 when it premiered at the Bush Theatre.
Sea Wall opens at the Old Vic Theatre for a brief run on Monday 18th June 2018.
