What The Ladybird Heard Photos & Video
The Lyric Theatre is often the home of some fantastic children’s shows to go alongside the ongoing The Lion King and summer 2017 will be no different as it turns its attention’s to the latest stage adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s work.
This time around it is her collaboration with illustrator Lydia Monks that gets the West End treatment as What The Ladybird Heard comes alive with many of the colourful characters making an appearance. For younger theatregoers this will be a great introduction to the West End and is certain to put a smile on their faces.
The story focuses on an attempted robbery and the unlikely hero who sets out to stop it. Whilst we’ve heard of larger animals saving the day, this show turns its attention to something smaller – The Ladybird. When she catches wind of two robbers attempting to steal a farmer’s cow she sets her sights on stopping them. They are going to regret choosing this Ladybird to mess with!
Audiences who have previously exprienced the likes of The Gruffalo and Room On The Broom will know that Julia Donaldson writes great children’s books and this is why her stories have been adapted to the stage on numerous occasions. She has worked with Lydia Monks on various titles as well, writing not only What The Ladybird Saw but also The Singing Mermaid, The Rhyming Rabbit and What The Ladybird Saw Next.
But audiences can experience What The Ladybird Heard when it runs at the Lyric Theatre from Wednesday 5th July 2017.
