A pantomime that was first seen in the West End over a century ago, when it was staged at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 1904, make a triumphant return to Theatreland this Christmas under the guidance of Qdos Entertainment. It will be a chance to engage in an annual British tradition in the capital of theatre as directors Michael Harrison and Andrew Wright bring the story to life.

The London Palladium provides the stage this time around, continuing a pantomime tradition that took place in the venue for a significant part of the 20th century, and so we can expect this to be the most talked-about production this Christmas season.

But this is also because of the rich and colourful story that will be brought to life through the lens of pantomime as we meet Cinderella, a girl mistreated by her stepsisters and stepmother. She is so low down the ranks that it takes the help of her Fairy Godmother to get her to the prince’s ball, with the deadline of midnight to return. Will she make it? The answer forms part of the iconic and memorable conclusion.

The story has been known for centuries and whilst modern audiences are perhaps most familiar with the animated Disney production, many also associate it with its publication as part of the Grimm’s Fairy Tales in the 17th century. So it has a long history that has ensured it has a lasting place in public consciousness and popular culture.

Cinderella the pantomime makes a triumphant return to the West End this Christmas and opens on Friday 9th December 2016.
