Dust, Milly Thomas’s play that explores the effects of suicide, finally makes its way to the West End with this welcome run at the Trafalgar Studios 2. This is an eye-opening and acclaimed piece that has already enthralled audiences at other London locations and will surely make a big impression at its new home on Whitehall.
Milly Thomas has worked as both an actor and a writer, penning numerous episodes of television shows, previous plays and appearing onscreen in shows like Quacks. With Dust, however, she has managed to turn heads and it means that all eyes will be on her as her career progresses.
This compelling story focuses on the character of Alice, who has reached the end of the line and no longer wishes to live. She commits suicide, but rather than ending it all this merely removes her to the sidelines, where she must now observe the world she left behind, sharing in the grief of her loved ones as the consequences of her actions are made clear.
The show is directed by Sara Joyce, who worked with Milly Thomas on the show Poo Girl (for the Miniaturists) at the Arcola Theatre and whose credits also include Elsa in Edinburgh and Split for the Vault Festival, London. The acclaimed young director is a member of the Old Vic 12 along with other talented writer, directors and other practitioners.
Dust runs at the Trafalgar Studios 2 from Tuesday 4th September 2018.
