In September 2019 all eyes will be on the Peacock Theatre in London’s West End, where one of the most popular musicals in the world will be making a welcome reappearance as part of a celebratory tour.
Fame, which has been wowing audiences worldwide since its debut in 1988, will enjoy a short run at the West End outlet for Sadler’s Wells and in doing so will introduce a new generation of eager theatregoers to the exploits of students at a New York school of performing arts. Musical theatre aficionados will not want to miss this!
The first time Fame was staged in the capital was in 1995 and it is now remembered as one of the greats. But then, what else would expect from a show with such an inspiring story and memorable musical numbers? Its focus is on the young performers that want to be stars, studying at a performing arts school as part of their dreams of reaching the spotlight. But along the way, they will have to face the difficulties that life throws at them, with distractions and pressure threatening characters like Schlomo, Carmen and Tyrone, amongst others.
Musical numbers include the likes of Pas de Deux, Bring On Tomorrow, Teacher’s Argument and Let’s Play A Love Scene, amongst a wealth of other classic tunes.
Fame has appeared in numerous London locations over the years, from the Cambridge Theatre to the Shaftesbury Theatre, but its run at the Peacock Theatre will be another unmissable stop. The venue is the West End outlet for the Sadler’s Wells Theatre, a location that welcomes some of the biggest names of contemporary dance year after year. 2019 alone welcomes some top draws, with Fame the cherry on top of another unbeatable year.
Fame runs at the Peacock Theatre from Wednesday 11th September 2019.
