Revisit the classic 1990s film Pretty Woman as the fantastic Broadway musical makes its way to London’s West End. Experience the compelling romantic story and follow the memorable characters as first devised by screenwriter J. F. Lawton as they find a new home on the stage.
Over the years we have seen various high profile films make their way to the capital, transforming iconic moments from the silver screen into unmissable West End entertainment. Pretty Woman is the latest such venture, utilising the songwriting skills of Bryan Adams to create the score as he teams with Jim Vallance and puts music to Garry Marshall and J. F. Lawton’s book.
The story of Pretty Woman is one that revolutionised romantic comedies in the 1990s, making Julia Roberts and Richard Gere into the contemporary heroes of the genre. It focuses on the character of Vivan Ward (played onstage byAimie Atkinson), a prostitute hired by Edward Lewis (Danny Mac), with their professional relationship soon giving way to a romantic one. Atkinson and Mac are joined at the Piccadilly Theatre by Rachael Wooding, Bob Harms, Mark Holden and Neil McDermott.
Pretty Woman The Musical is directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell and he does so having helmed the show on the other side of the Atlantic. An Olivier Award-nominated and Tony Award-winning practitioner, Jerry has previously provided us with shows like Kinky Boots at the Adelphi Theatre, Love Never Dies at the Adelphi Theatre and an array of other shows in the West End and on Broadway. His keen eye will ensure that Pretty Woman The Musical is the show to see when it arrives in 2020.
Pretty Woman The Musical runs at the Piccadilly Theatre from Sunday 1st March 2020 (previews from Thursday 13th February 2020).
