Rent - Other Palace, London

20 years ago audiences were first introduced to a musical that would leave a lasting legacy, not only providing crowds around the world with a fantastic stage experience but also ensuring its late creator Jonathan Larson would be remembered for years to come. It earned various prestigious awards and won over critics and audiences alike, so its return to London is always cause for celebration.

But its appearance at the St James Theatre in 2016 is a particularly special event as it forms part of a 20th Anniversary celebration, which also sees it play at venues across the United Kingdom. If you are yet to witness Rent, this is the best way of experiencing it.

Its story takes us to New York City and in particular the East Village, where we meet a group of artists living a bohemian lifestyle. But their relationships and day to day lives are difficult and we explore their world through their own eyes. It is described as a show about life itself, whilst also touching on some serious and life-changing topics such as the AIDS crisis.

It also features some well known musical numbers penned by Larson such as Seasons Of Love, La Vie Boheme, I’ll Cover You, Light My Candle and more.

The cast includes Ross Hunter, who is known for appearing in shows like Chess In Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, The Book Of Mormon at the Prince of Wales Theatre, Legally Blonde The Musical at the Savoy Theatre and We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre.

He stars alongside The new production stars Ross Hunter alongside Billy Cullum, Ryan O’Gorman, Shanay Holmes, Layton Williams, Philippa Stefani and Lucie Jones. Bruce Guthrie directs.

Rent plays at the St James Theatre from Thursday 8th December 2016.
