Jesse Eisenberg brings his latest show to the West End, allowing audiences at Trafalgar Studios 1 to see the skills of a Hollywood actor live on stage.
His new show is The Spoils and he brings Kunal Nayyar with him when it opens in May 2016.
Eisenberg is best known for his roles in Adventureland, Zombieland and the recent Batman V Superman but he has also enjoyed success as a playwright and this is the latest of various shows he has previously brought to the stage and in which he has starred.
This time around he portrays the character of Ben, a self-loathing man who bullies those around him, and he stars alongside Nayyar’s Kalyan, his roommate. Ben had a crush on someone at school and this puts the plot in motion as he discovers that she is soon to tie the knot. He plans to ruin the wedding and win her heart for himself.
The show was seen in New York last year at the Signature Theatre Company and appears in London in a year that brings many well known stars of the screen to the capital, with examples likes Matthew Perry in The End Of Longing (also playwright) and Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard.
Whilst Eisenberg is best known for his film work, Nayyar is better known from television as he has portrayed Rajesh in The Big Bang Theory since the show started in 2007. The London-born actor previously appeared in Love’s Labour’s Lost for the UK’s Royal Shakespeare Company in 2006.
The Spoils opens at the Trafalgar Studios 1 on Whitehall on Thursday 2nd June 2016 (with previews from Friday 27th May 2016).
